The start of the new year marks the beginning of earnings season for companies. Corporate statements will also be the focus of attention on the Swiss stock exchange in the coming weeks. Sika, Partners Group and Richemont are among the first companies to share details of their business performance over the past few months.
Construction chemicals group Sika disappointed investors, with negative currency effects and weak construction activity in China having a particularly negative impact on business activity. Its shares lost up to 9.5% after the figures were published. This results in a drop of almost 5.0% since the beginning of the year (as of 15 January 2026).
Conversely, Partners Group shares got off to a good start in 2026. The upswing is also driven by the unexpectedly strong annual results, which boosted the share price on Thursday. The shares have thus risen by almost 11% in the still young year.
Meanwhile, the luxury goods company Richemont looks back on a successful Christmas season. The company benefited from rising sales of jewellery and watches in the last quarter, defying the challenging market conditions currently facing the luxury industry. However, the result is not reflected in the stock market, with Bloomberg News pointing to profit-taking. The equities have recorded a modest loss since the beginning of January and are therefore underperforming the SPI (+2.2%).
